About GameSIG
The UPL Game and Graphics SIG was created in the fall of 1997 to provide an organization where UPL members
could get together to talk about and work on computer game development.
In the past, the Game SIG as a whole has met on a regular basis to chat anything related to games
and game development.
Getting Involved
If you are an undergraduate at the University
of Wisconsin - Madison you can get involved with the UPL and the UPL Game
SIG. It does not matter how much experience you have with programming or
computers. There are people here who can help you learn everything you need
to know. If you need help with something, just stand up and
ask. If you don't, come in and help someone else. Just be sure to leave your
ego at home -- you won't need it here.
To get involved, send me e-mail (Dave Murray),
come to the UPL sometime and ask
the people there how to get involved, or show up for one of the scheduled
UPL Game SIG events.
The UPL is located in the Computer Science and Statistics building in room
1341, on the first floor. If you walk in the building from Union South, it is
the room at the top of the ramp with the big glass windows.
Resources
The UPL provides a very large library of books devoted to programming in
general, game programming, graphics programming, network programming,
and a ton of other subjects too. The UPL also provides a good development
environment. There are a bunch of Linux and Windows boxes.
But most importantly, the UPL has a lot of really knowledgeable people who are very willing to help anyone.
