What is the hardware SIG?
The Undergraduate Projects Laboratory
Hardware SIG was created to encourage the exploration of the electronic side of computing. We
do a lot of interesting things including modifying existing hardware, interfacing things with computers,
and building our own. Check the Projects Page
for some of the past, present and future endeavors.
How can I join?
If you are interested in learning about hardware and electronics, you can do several things. We have a
mailing list for announcements and discussion. Send
email to 'zmiller' or 'nick' at upl.cs.wisc.edu to join the list. Also, the Hardware SIG has weekly
meetings. The best way to get involved is to just start coming to the meetings!
When are the meetings?
The Hardware SIG meets on Tuesday nights at 6:30. If a meeting is cancelled or moved you will find
out via the mailing list. We usually have a project
to work on and some goals for each meeting, but feel free to bring in your own ideas for projects.
Whats in this web site?
You are on the Home page right now. The site is divided into a few
main sections:
- List has info
on how to get on the upl-hardware mailing list and list archives.
- News gets updated semi-regularily to let
you know of any changes in meetings, special events, and any other items that might be of interest
to us Hardware Folk.
- Projects lists and briefly describes
various projects. Some are complete, some are actively being worked on, and others are just ideas
waiting for someone to work on them.
- Resources has links to technical
information and other generally useful stuff residing both on and off this site.
