Marc's Loudspeaker Page

If you didn't already know, I am an amateur loudspeaker designer. Currently, I am working on a D'Appolito 2-Way system using the Dynaudio D260 Tweeter and two Dynaudio 17WLQ Midbass drivers.

Here are the specifics:

Crossover: 24dB/octave Gaussian @ 2400Hz

Cabinet: Sealed

Driver placement: Tweeter offset at 1.6:1 ratio, Midbass slightly offset

Here's where the project stands as of right now:

Cabinets have the woofer and tweeter holes cut. Work has begun on grinding the tweeter faceplates so that I can minimize the distance between them and the midbass drivers. Crossovers are assembled and tested and seem to function, but not tested with the drivers in the box.

Still to do:

Finish grinding the tweeter faceplates.

Re-spray the faceplates black.

Rout the midbass and tweeters flush in the cabinet.

Install dampening material in the cabinets.

Assemble and test.

Stain and varnish the cabinets.

I have not made much progress in the last year or two, as I have been commissioned to build a number of systems. My current projects involve a pair of 12" Dayton DVC subs powered by 2 KG-5230 sub amps, and a 3-way 5-driver Vifa tower system.
